| Description of Services: |
Hemodialysis is used to treat chronic kidney disease when kidneys no longer work well enough to remove waste and fluids from the body to keep it healthy * the site is a combined inpatient and outpatient dialysis centre offering 56 chronic treatment stations and the capacity to provide hemodialysis for 336 patients * the unit is divided into three care centres, each with a central nursing station for the patients to be within sight of a nurse while having dialysis treatment A separate room is available to provide privacy for special medical procedures * isolation rooms are also available when indicated to help control the risk of infections This unit also provides hemodialysis for acutely ill in-patients in other areas of the hospital, such as Critical Care and Emergency |
